Learning Styles of Undergraduate Medical Students and their Relation with Preferred Teaching-Learning Methods

This descriptive type of cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the learning styles undergraduate medical students and their relation with preferred teaching-learning Methods. The period from July 2017 June 2018. carried out among 2nd, 3rd, 4th phases MBBS course at three government four nongovernment colleges in Bangladesh. Out seven colleges, were within Dhaka outside Dhaka. sample size 1004. Medical selected purposively, a convenience sampling technique adopted for data collection. Bangla translated version Fleming's VARK (visual, auditory, read/write, kinesthetic) questionnaire used identify students. Linear regression compare scores revealed that 1004 64.2% multimodal styles, rest, 35.8% unimodal styles. Among preferences, auditory (A) kinesthetic (K) most sensory modalities learning. teaching Methods bedside (29.9%), followed by tutorials (25.9%), practical sessions (20.6%). method mixed (60.3%). A positive correlation present between modes (P <0.05). Majority Students are able learn effectively as long teacher provides blend visual, read/writing, activities. recommended teachers be aware students' aligning will improve academic performance.
